Is money REALLY in the list?

is-money-really-in-the-list

Quote of the day:  ”We may not imagine how our lives could be more frustrating and complex – but Congress can.”

Cullen Hightower

Is money REALLY in the list?

Visionary of the Business management Joseph M. Juran suggested a principle and named it after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who observed in the beginning of XX century that 80% of the land in his homeland was owned by only 20% of its population.
It is now known as 80-20 rule or principle.
As concerns Internet Marketing the 80-20 rule is almost universal; the best example of which is your analytics and testing where it becomes very obvious – traffic vs targeted traffic ratio falls into this category. 20 percent of our efforts bring about 80 percent of our results.
The money is in the list… if we got 20 cent every time we read or hear this we all should have been millionaires by now.
In parallel with Jim Collins who said: “…the old adage: “People are your most important asset” is wrong. The right people are your most important asset.” – we should say: ” Big list is your most valuable asset” is probably not enough. But the RESPONSIVE list most probably is.
Along with this, targeted traffic is a lot more useful compared to “totally” irrelevant to your niche traffic.

Tell me what you think about it.
Dmitri

    Hi Dimitri

I totally agree with you. The most important is a responsive list. Having a list of thousands can be of no use if they’re not your audience (meaning buyers for your products or services).

It’s common to find statements from experienced and successful marketers about sending an e-mail to a small list and making thousands. Why? Because they have responsive lists.

So the one million dollars question is: how to build a responsive list?

I believe that it relies on quality of what you provide and building a trustworthy relationship with your subscribers.

    Cheers

    Jorge

  2. Dimitri-
I love your writing style! You take a very good look at some statements that are heard over and over again. Yet you add the most important part that is usually left off….RESPONSIVE. If only all our lists could be that. Keep up the good work providing some straight shootin, excellent posts. This will definitely help you in your quest for a responsive list!

Well thank You so much for the nice word, Jerry!
I am really stunned by what you are doing on YOUR site – featured posts implementation, no to mention surveillance thing, that’s pretty impressive. Combined with your insight – your blog is becoming immensely attractive to your visitors, including myself.
I am thinking over a post about leverage – it will be nice to know your opinion on that too when it is ready – I do value Your opinion as well as opinions of all those under Alex’s wing. They make me feel useful… Generally speaking it is so nice to see so many really talented people to get together and try to support each other – I am in a wonderful company!
    Thanks again,
    Dmitri

    Hi, Jorge!
Thanks a lot for your posting – it really means an awful lot to me!
As concerns building a responsive list – that is exactly a million dollar question and we ALL are working on it. I am sure you are also of the opinion that Internet Marketing is a set of skills (essential skills at that!), but nevertheless a learn-able set of skills, otherwise we would probably have never met at Alex’s class. And as such with a little planning, proven blueprint (that is what we are all trying to learn from) and enough perseverance we all should eventually get there. It is SOOO nice to be in a company of like-minded people who are ready to help each other the best they can. Thanks again!

  5. hey Dmitri
from day 1 we have been bombarded with the “the list is all that matters” or “you must have a list”
all of course matters nought if it’s not as you say a “responsive list”
it’s only since i recently found a good mentor that this fact has been made clear to me
    thanks for the timely reminder

  6. Dmitri,

I’m still trying to build my list. I’m at about 115 right now. I would love any advice you have on how to make my list more responsive.

I’m learning, step by step, and I don’t want to lose the subs I have while I’m working away to get more.

    Thank you,

    Lesley
